Statement by the Minister for Foreign Affairs on the release of Brian Fogarty

I was delighted to learn tonight of Brian Fogarty's release.

I have been following events on a daily basis through the Irish Embassy in Nigeria and my officials have been in ongoing contact with members of his family.

While details of the release are not yet available, the important thing is that Brian is free.

It will, of course, be important that Brian take time to recover from this and I wish him well in that recovery.

I want to thank all of those who worked to secure his release, including the staff of our Embassy in Nigeria.
