New Ambassadors present Credentials - Thursday, 2nd February 2006


 

Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, the Republic of Indonesia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

 

His Excellency Mr. Ricardo Javier Varela Fernandez, Ambassador of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay was accompanied by his wife Mrs. María Jesús de Cores de Varela.

 

His Excellency Dr. R.M. Marty Natalegawa, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Sranya B. Natalegawa and Mr. Yuwono A. Putranto, Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia.

 

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was accompanied by his wife H.R.H. Princess Fadwa bint Khaled bin Abdallah Al-Saud and daughter H.R.H. Princess Jawaher bint Mohammed bin Nawaf along with the Deputy Head of Mission Mr. Abdullah Al-Shagrood.

 

The following were also present at the ceremony: Mr. Batt O'Keeffe T.D.,

Minister of State at the Department of Environment, Heritage & Local Government; Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Dermot Gallagher, Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol, Ms. Lorraine Christian, Assistant Chief of Protocol and Mr. Eoin Duggan, Assistant Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs.

 

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin under the command of Lieutenant Clare Mortimee.

 

The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin under the command of Lieutenant Aidrain Watson.

 

The Army No. 1 Band was conducted by Commandant Mark Armstrong.
