Launch of Collaboration between the Health Research Board and the Department of Foreign Affairs on support for Global Health Research

The Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children, Ms. Mary Harney T.D., and the Minister of State for Development Cooperation and Human Rights, Mr. Conor Lenihan T.D., will launch a programme of cooperation between the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Health Research Board.
The Department of Foreign Affairs will make funding available from the Government's aid budget to fund research into global health issues of interest to developing countries. The programme of funding will be managed by the Health Research Board, in line with priorities of the Government's official aid programme.
The Departments of Health & Children and Foreign Affairs will also look at other areas of possible cooperation in relation to Ireland's official programme of assistance to the world's poorest countries.
The launch will take place at 4pm on Monday 19th December in Iveagh House, St. Stephen's Green, Dublin 2.
