New Ambassadors present Credentials
Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of the Republic of Cuba, the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Peru and the Republic of Tunisia presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.
His Excellency Mr. Pedro Noel Carrillo, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Mariela Crespo and his daughters Ms Claudia Carrillo and Ms Sandra Carrillo.
Her Excellency Mrs. Kshenuka Senewiratne, Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, was accompanied by her husband Mr. Surendra Joseph Senewiratne.
His Excellency Dr. Luis Solari Tudela, Ambassador of Peru was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Martha R. de Solari.
His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ghariani, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia was accompanied by his wife Mrs Olfa Ghariani and Mr. Yassine El Oued, Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia.
The following were also present at the ceremony: Mr. Michael Ahern, T.D.,
Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Employment; Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Rory Montgomery, Political Director, Department of Foreign Affairs; Ms Kathleen White, Chief of Protocol, Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol, Mr. Eoin Duggan, Assistant Chief of Protocol; Ms. Sonya McGuinness, Assistant Chief of Protocol; at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin under the command of Lieutenant Kieran Dillon.
The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by the 3rd Infantry Battalion, Military Barracks, Kilkenny, under the command of Lieutenant Alan Courtney.
The Army No. 1 Band was conducted by Commandant Mark Armstrong.
