New Ambassadors present Credentials
Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of South Africa and the Kingdom of the Netherlands presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.
His Excellency, Mr. Christian Pauls, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Gabriele Pauls and Mr. Joachim Heidorn, Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany
Her Excellency, Ms. Devikarani Priscilla Sewpal Jana, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa was accompanied by her children Ms. Tina Molefe and Mr. Shivesh Sewpal and by Mr. Arnold Mpeiwa, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of South Africa.
His Excellency, Mr. Robert H. Serry, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Irina Serry and son Mr. Jonas Serry and also by Mr. Gijsbert H.C. van der Lingen, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The following were also present at the ceremony: Mr. Noel Treacy, T.D.,
Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs with Special Responsibility for European Affairs; Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Dan Mulhall, Assistant Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol, Mr. Eoin Duggan, Assistant Chief of Protocol and Ms. Orla McBreen, Assistant Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin under the command of Lieutenant Patrick Holohan.
The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by the Defence Forces Training Centre under the command of Lieutenant Alan Fennell.
The Army No. 1 Band was conducted by Commandant Mark Armstrong.
