New Ambassadors present Credentials



Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of the Republic of Lithuania, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Malaysia presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

Her Excellency, Ms. Izolda Brièkovskiené, was accompanied by her husband Mr. Vitalijus Brièkovskis and by Mr. Aidas Sunelaitis, Attaché, Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania.

His Excellency, Mr. Hamid Reza Nikkar Esfhani, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was accompanied by Mr. Amir Masoud Miri, First Secretary, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

H.E. Dato Siddiq Firdause Mohd Ali, Ambassador of Malaysia was accompanied by his wife, Datin Rohani Md Shah, his daughters Firza Liyana  and Alia Shafiza and by Ms. Adina Kamarudin, First Secretary, Embassy of Malaysia.
  
The following were also present at the ceremony: Mr. Pat the Cope Gallagher, T.D.,
Minister of State at the Department of Communications, Marine & Natural Resources; Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Brendan Rogers, Assistant Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Brian Nason, Chief of Protocol, Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol and Mr. Gerry Kelly, Assistant Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin under the command of Lieutenant Patrick Holohan.

The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by the Air Defence Regiment, Defence Forces Training Centre, Curragh, Co. Kildare, under the command of Lieutenant Seán Mee.

The Army No. 1 Band was conducted by Commandant Mark Armstrong.
