Minister Dermot Ahern Condemns Iraq Bombing
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Dermot Ahern T.D., expressed his shock at the great loss of life in this morning's bombing in Iraq. The Minister offered his condolences to the families of those killed, and expressed his hope that all those who were injured would make a full recovery.
The Minister said: “The horrendous death toll in this murderous attack seems to have been quite deliberately intended. The bombing was aimed at ordinary Iraqis who were obtaining medical certificates in order to apply for government jobs. It forms part of a recent pattern of attacks on Iraqis trying to play their part in the reconstruction of their country, including sectarian attacks cynically aimed at provoking retaliation and civil strife.”
