Presidency Website wins Award
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Dermot Ahern T.D., warmly welcomed the fact that Ireland’s Presidency Website, www.eu2004.ie, last night received the award for “Best Partnership Project” at the Innovation through Technology Awards, 2004.
The Awards organised by Eircom and Inside Government Magazine aim to highlight the benefits that innovation using technology has brought to public services and communications.
The Best Partnership Project award recognises the role played by the Presidency Website in co-ordinating the activities of public and private sector organisations in providing user-friendly, readily accessible information on Presidency issues. The site presented over 2.2 million words of content from 15 Government Departments, a range of Semi State agencies and statutory bodies, national cultural institutions, event organisers, media outlets, the Gardai and Defence Forces, NGOs in the youth, tourism, development aid, local development, environment and heritage sectors and local businesses. With over 25 million page views recorded on the site over the course of the Presidency, the Presidency Website provided the authoritative single point of contact for all Presidency information.
The Minister congratulated all those involved in the development and operation of the Presidency Website on the receipt of the award.
