New Ambassadors present Credentials


Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of Austria and Serbia and Montenegro presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

His Excellency, Dr. Horst-Dieter Rennau, Ambassador of Austria, was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Ruthilde Rennau and by Mr. Peter Mikl, Minister Plenipotentiary, Embassy of Austria.


His Excellency, Dr. Dragisa Burzan, Ambassador of Serbia and Montenegro was accompanied by Dr. Djoko Tripkovic, Minister Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Serbia and Montenegro.


The following also attended the ceremony: Mr. Tom Parlon, T.D., Minister of State  at the Department of  Finance; Mr. David Cooney, Assistant Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary General  to the President;  Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol and Mr. Gerry Kelly, Assistant Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin under the command of Second Lieutenant Melissa Hogan.

The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by the 4th Infantry Battalion, Collins Barracks, Cork, under the command of Lieutenant John Anderson.

The Army Number 1 Band was conducted by Commandant Mark Armstrong.
