Minister Cowen Condemns Bomb Blast in Baquba, Iraq

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Brian Cowen, TD, condemned the latest bomb attack in Iraq and recalled that he has consistently rejected the use of terrorism in any circumstances.
The Minister has expressed his dismay at the death of at least 68 civilians in Baquba and offered condolences to the families of those killed and expressed his hope for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attacks.
“Those behind this cowardly attack, which aimed to maximise the loss of civilian life cannot be allowed to undermine the will of the Iraqi people who wish to restore the basic civilian structures in Iraq. The perpetrators of these attacks clearly do not serve the interests of Iraq or the Iraqi people.”
