On 11th June, Vote to decide the future of Europe

Between the coming 10th and 13th June, 338 million voters will elect 732 representatives to the European Parliament. These - the first European elections in a Union of Twenty Five - will demonstrate that we share the same goals of peace, solidarity and security, thereby underpinning Europe’s role in the world.

As the Ministers with responsibility for European affairs in the 25 countries of the European Union, we are launching the following appeal today: It is you, the citizens of Europe, who will shape the future of our continent. By exercising your vote at the forthcoming European Parliament elections you will have the opportunity to contribute to the planning of Europe's future. Europe is much more than an economic community. It is a vibrant community of shared values and aspirations. Far from being an abstract concept, Europe is a feature of the daily lives of each and every one of us.

The European Parliament is a key player in the process of European integration. Most of the common rules that affect your everyday lives go through the Parliament. Over the next five years, the Parliament will be involved in adopting vital decisions that matter to Europe and your future. This is what is at stake in these elections.

Europe needs a Parliament that represents your diversity and expresses your ambitions, hopes and choices for the future. Make your vote count. Don’t let your future be decided for you.
