New Ambassadors present Credentials
Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of Jamaica, the Philippines and the Republic of Uganda presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.
Her Excellency, Ms. Ruby Violet Evadne Coye, Ambassador of Jamaica was in attendance.
His Excellency, Mr. Edgardo B. Espiritu, Ambassador of the Philippines, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Lydia B. Espiritu and by Mr. Mario L. de Leon, Minister and Consul General, Embassy of the Philippines.
His Excellency, Dr. Tomasi Sisye Kiryapawo, Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Loi K. Kiryapawo and by Mr. Peter Nkurunziza, Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Uganda.
The following were also present at the ceremony: Ms. Síle de Valera, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Education and Science; Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary General to the President; Mr. David Donoghue, Assistant Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Brian Nason, Chief of Protocol; Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol; Mr. Gerry Kelly, Assistant Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin under the command of Lieutenant Laura Keane.
The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by the 1st Air Defence Regiment, Curragh Camp, Kildare under the command of Lieutenant Sean Mee.
The Band of the Defence Forces School of Music was conducted by Commandant Mark Armstrong.
