Minister Cowen condemns bomb attacks in Madrid
11/03/2004
“I condemn in the strongest terms those responsible for this morning’s bomb attacks in Madrid.
Information is still coming in but reports so far indicate that more than sixty people have died and more than three hundred have been injured. Horror and revulsion are the words that come to mind.
As we have learned here in Ireland, violence has no place in the political process.
This morning I have spoken with Spain’s Foreign Minister, Ms. Ana Palacio, to convey my sympathies and those of everyone in Ireland.
My thoughts are with the families and friends of those killed in the attacks.
I firmly believe that there can be no excuse, no justification for such actions.”
