New Ambassadors present Credentials


Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of the Slovak Republic, Ukraine and the State of Eritrea presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

His Excellency, Mr. Ján Gábor, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Danka Gáborova, and his sons Tomas and Ján Gábor and by Mr. Ján Galbavý, Third Secretary, Embassy of the Slovak Republic.

His Excellency, Mr. Yevhen Perelygin, Ambassador of Ukraine, was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Olena Perelygin and his sons Kirill and Yegor Perelygin and by Mrs. Iryna Yefremova, Second Secretary, Embassy of Ukraine.

His Excellency, Mr. Negassi Sengal Ghebrezghi, Ambassador of the State of Eritrea, was also in attendance.

The following were also present at the ceremony: Mr. Tom Parlon, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Finance; Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Dermot Gallagher, Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol; Mr. Gerry Kelly, Assistant Chief of Protocol; Ms. Claire Reeves, Protocol Officer at the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin under the command of Lieutenant Denice McDonagh.

The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by the 4th Infantry Battalion, Custume Barracks, Athlone, under the command of Lieutenant John Anderson.

The Band of Custume Barracks, Athlone was conducted by Captain Declan Whitston.
