RTE TV Series on the Future of Europe
21/01/2004
Last week 'Europe - How are You?' contrasted Ireland's accession to the EEC in 1973 with the historic enlargement of the European Union which will take place during the Irish Presidency of the EU on 1 May.
This week Programme 2 of ‘Europe – How are You?' focuses on the future of the European Union.
The Programme looks at how the EU and its institutions work, how decisions are made in the Union by Member States, and how the EU institutions impact on our lives. During the programme, contributors also discuss what EU membership has meant for them and for Ireland.
The Programme then focuses on the draft Constitutional Treaty which was drafted by the Convention on the Future of Europe and how this may affect Ireland. Contributors reflect on Ireland's role in a new Europe and what holding the EU Presidency in 2004 means to us.
