Minister Cowen condemns bomb attacks in Istanbul
15/11/2003
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Brian Cowen T.D., condemned this morning's car bomb attacks on two synagogues in Istanbul which have left at least fifteen people dead and over one hundred and fifty injured.
The Minister extended his condolences to the families of the dead and offered his best wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Recalling Ireland's absolute stance against all forms of terrorism the Minister said “These evil acts are particularly abhorrent for the people of Ireland, as we have direct experience of the horror associated with terrorist attacks on places of worship. An act such as this can never be justified. Terrorist attacks directed against people on the basis of religion are contrary to all standards of humanity.”
