Updated Travel Advice: Bolivia and Guatemala
The Department of Foreign Affairs has reviewed its travel advice for Bolivia and Guatemala. The Department will continue to monitor the situation closely and Irish citizens should be aware that this travel advice may be subject to change at short notice.
Bolivia
Following the appointment of a new President, the situation in Bolivia has largely returned to normal. El Alto-La Paz International Airport has reopened, and it is now possible to travel throughout the country. However, the possibility of further social disturbances remains. The Department of Foreign Affairs, therefore, advises visitors to Bolivia to exercise vigilance and to avoid public demonstrations.
Guatemala
Presidential elections are to be held in Guatemala on November 9 and there are indications that violent demonstrations may take place around that time. Irish visitors to Guatemala are advised, therefore, to exercise great caution and to avoid public demonstrations, especially in the capital, Guatemala City.
