New Ambassadors present Credentials


Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of the Arab Republic of Egypt, France and the Republic of Kazakhstan presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

His Excellency, Mr. Ibrahim Ahdy Khairat, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Suzane Talaat, his daughters Ms. Pakiname Khairat, Ms. Perihanne Khairat and Ms. Shereen Khairat and by Mrs. Olfat Farah, Minister Plenipotentiary, Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

His Excellency, Mr. Yannick Gerard, Ambassador of France, was accompanied by Mr. Luc Serot Alméras, First Counsellor, Embassy of France.

His Excellency, Mr. Erlan Idrissov, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was accompanied by Mr. Temirlan Shakirov, Consul, Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The following also attended the ceremony: Mr. Dick Roche, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach and Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs with Special Responsibility for European Affairs; Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Dermot Gallagher, Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Brian Nason, Chief of Protocol, Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol; Mr. Gerry Kelly, Assistant Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin under the command of Lieutenant D. Mc Donagh.

The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by the Cadet School, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant D. Fitzpatrick.

The Band of the Defence Forces School of Music was conducted by Commandant M. Armstrong.
