Minister for Foreign Affairs announces Short Guide to Draft EU Constitutional Treaty

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Brian Cowen T.D., today announced the publication by his Department of “A Short Explanatory Guide to the Draft Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe”.
The Guide sets out in a straightforward way the main recommendations made by the European Convention and aims to explain the key issues involved. It also sets out the broad lines of the debate at the Convention, as well as identifying some of the questions that are being further examined at the ongoing Intergovernmental Conference.
The Guide has been published in the context of today's debate in Dáil Éireann on the outcome of the European Convention and the Government's approach to the Intergovernmental Conference. It can be accessed on the website of the Department of Foreign Affairs www.irlgov.ie/iveagh, as can all of the Government's submissions and contributions to the European Convention and the IGC.
