New Ambassadors present Credentials
Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of the Republic of Argentina, the Republic of Croatia and His Majesty the King of the Belgians presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.
His Excellency, Dr. Marcelo Eduardo Huergo, Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina, was accompanied his wife, Mrs. Elvira Huergo, and Mr. Federico G. Urrutia, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of the Republic of Argentina.
His Excellency, Dr. Nenad Prelog, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Davorka Prelog, and Ms. Bernardica Makšijan, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of the Republic of Croatia.
His Excellency, Mr. Wilfried Geens, Ambassador of His Majesty the King of the Belgians, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Geens-Verschueren. and Mr. Olivier Quinaux, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Belgium.
The following also attended the ceremony: Mr. Noel Treacy, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture and Food; Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Dermot Gallagher, Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Gerry Kelly, Assistant Chief of Protocol, Ms. Cáit Moran, Assistant Chief of Protocol and Mr. Justin Dolan, Protocol Officer, at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin under the command of Lieutenant P. Houlihan.
The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by the 12th Infantry Battalion, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant G. Rigney.
The Band of the Defence Forces School of Music was conducted by Commandant M. Armstrong.
