New Ambassadors present Credentials
Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of the Republic of Estonia, Iceland and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.
His Excellency, Mr. Simmu Tiik, Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia, was accompanied Ms. Krista Kilvet, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of the Republic of Estonia.
His Excellency, Mr. Sverrir Haukur Gunnlaugsson, Ambassador of Iceland, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Gudny Adalsteinsdottir.
His Excellency, Mr. Faisz Musthapha, Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Fathima Fatheena Musthapha and Mr. Sunil Munasinghe, Second Secretary, Embassy of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
The following also attended the ceremony: Mr. Liam Aylward, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture and Food; Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Dermot Gallagher, Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol, Ms. Ciara Delaney, Assistant Chief of Protocol and Mr. Gerry Kelly, Assistant Chief of Protocol, at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin under the command of Lieutenant J. Sharkey.
The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by the 4th Field Artillery Regiment, Columb Barracks, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, under the command of Lieutenant J. Maylnn.
The Band of the Defence Forces School of Music was conducted by Commandant M. Armstrong.
