Minister Cowen condemns terrorist attacks in Saudi Arabia
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Brian Cowen T.D., condemned the callous terrorist attacks carried out against innocent civilians in Saudi Arabia this morning. He extended his condolences to the families of those killed and expressed his hope for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attacks.
These attacks on the eve of the visit of Secretary of State Powell's visit to Riyadh were intended to disrupt efforts to revive the peace process between Israelis and Palestinians, which commenced with the presentation of the Roadmap to the parties on 30 April.
Ireland condemns all acts of terrorism and strongly supports the initiative of the Quartet in launching the Roadmap which contains all the elements essential to the achievement of a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East.
The Minister called on all the parties and other countries supporting the peace process to redouble their efforts to ensure that rapid progress is made in implementing the Roadmap in its entirety.
