Advice Issued by the Department of Health and Children re Travel to SARS affected areas

The Department of Health and Children has today advised individuals not to undertake non-essential or elective travel to parts of China (i.e. Beijing, Guangdong, Hong Kong, Shanxi, Taiwan Province), Singapore, Hanoi and Toronto until further notice.
This advice follows the serious public health threat identified by authorities in areas affected by SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) and the stringent disease control measures now being employed as a result.
This list of affected areas is specified by the World Health Organisation and may change as this outbreak evolves. Therefore, intending travellers are requested to monitor the WHO (www.who.int
