Minister Cowen condemns attacks in Kenya
29/11/2002
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Brian Cowen T.D., has condemned the attack on an Israeli-owned hotel in Mombasa, Kenya, which claimed the lives of at least fourteen people. The Minister also condemned the attempted missile attack on an Israeli aeroplane as it took off from Mombasa airport.
“The killing of Kenyan and Israeli civilians in Mombasa is a heinous crime. It comes after a number of unrelated terrorist attacks within Israel, including the shooting in Beit Shan, which also must be condemned. The concurrent attempt to bring down an Israeli aeroplane shows that these terrorists have no respect for human life. These attacks will serve only to strengthen the resolve of the international community to combat terrorism in all forms and wherever it manifests itself.”
Minister Cowen offered his condolences to the families of the dead and his sympathy to those who were injured in the attacks.Top
