UPDATE: Travel Advice for India
The Department of Foreign Affairs has reviewed its travel advice for India.
Tension remains high in the region there are reports of a possible risk of violence against visitors at the Pushkar Mela, which starts on Friday 15 November. While there is no indication of a specific threat to Irish nationals, it is recommended that Irish citizens consider avoiding the event on this occasion.
We continue to advise Irish citizens travelling in India to exercise vigilance and caution in public places, and to avoid large gatherings such as political demonstrations.
Irish citizens resident in India should ensure that they are registered with the Embassy.
The Department continues to advise against all travel to northern border regions of the country.
The Department will continue to monitor the situation closely and citizens should be aware that this travel advice may be subject to change at short notice.
