Statement by Minister Cowen on the bomb attack at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Brian Cowen T.D., condemned the bomb attack at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem today which left at least seven people dead and dozens injured.
Minister Cowen offered his condolences to the families of the dead and his profound sympathy for those injured in the attack.
“ Terrorist attacks of this kind can never be justified in any circumstances” said the Minister. “ I am deeply perturbed that we are seeing the continuation of a cycle of attacks and counterattacks in which the sanctity of human life is completely disregarded. In the light of this and other incidents which have occurred in the region in the past few days, it is more than ever imperative that both sides make every effort to resume the peace process. There is no military solution to this conflict. I call on the Government of Israel and the Palestinian Authority to take the only feasible course of action and resume meaningful dialogue immediately.”Top
