Cowen to Meet Chief Cypriot EU Negotiator

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Brian Cowen T.D., will meet the former President of Cyprus, Mr. George Vassiliou, at 1:00 pm on Thursday 5 April 2001 at Iveagh House. Mr. Vassiliou is currently the Cypriot Chief EU Negotiator and the meeting with the Minister will focus on Cyprus' negotiations for membership of the European Union.
Cyprus is one of 12 states currently involved in negotiations for membership of the European Union. The purpose of the new Treaty of Nice is to complete the programme of institutional reform designed to prepare the European Union for a significant expansion in its membership.
