Presentation of Credentials of Ambassadors of the Kingdoms of Jordan and Nepal.
His Excellency, the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mr. Timoor Daghistani and
His Excellency, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Nepal, Dr. Singha Basnyat
presented their Letters of Credence as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.
The Minister of State at the Departmentof the Environment and Local Government, Mr Danny Wallace, T.D., was present at the ceremony.
The Jordanian Ambassador was unaccompanied.
The Nepalese Ambassador was accompanied by his spouse H.R.H. Princess Jotshana Basnyat and Mr. Nara B. Thapa, Attaché, Royal Nepalese Embassy, London.
Also present were Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary to the President; Mr Pádraic MacKernan, Secretary General, Mr Joseph Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol and Mr. James Hennessy, Assistant Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Colin MacNamee.
A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the 1st Infantry Battalion, Renmore Barracks, Galway, under the command of 2nd. Lieutenant Barry Ryan.
The Army Number One Band was conducted by Commandant Joseph Ryan.
