Ireland to be represented at the 7th International Architecture Exhibition, Venice


The Department of Foreign Affairs will host a reception on Tuesday 23rd May at 6pm in Iveagh House to honour the architect Tom de Paor who will represent Ireland at this year's Venice Architectural Biennale.

This is the first time that Ireland has been officially represented at the Architecture Section of the Venice Biennale.

The central theme for the millenium Biennale is ‘The City' and Ireland's entry by architect Tom de Paor is a temporary structure entitled ‘N³ - An Allegorical Construction' and is made entirely from peat briquettes.

The 7th Venice Biennale of Architecture takes place from 18th June-29th October, 2000. The Irish Pavillion is located at Spazio Thetis, Arsenale di Venezia.
