Cowen Expresses Concern Over Human Rights Abuses in Chechnya

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Brian Cowen, TD, is deeply concerned at the alarming reports of serious Human Rights abuses in Chechnya. He has instructed that the matter should be raised in bilateral contacts with the Russian authorities next week.
As Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the Minister is anxious to learn the Russian reaction to these reports. He believes that they must be fully investigated. Top
