Andrews to Launch Council of Europe Programme
On the occasion of the visit to Ireland by the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Lord Russell-Johnston, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. David Andrews T.D., will launch a booklet "Ireland and the Council of Europe Today" in Iveagh House, St. Stephen's Green, at 2.15 pm on Thursday 25 November 1999.
Ireland holds the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe from November 1999 to May 2000. The booklet includes the Irish Presidency's programme and information on activities which will be organised during the Presidency. It also provides, for the first time, an overview of Irish involvement in the activities of the Council of Europe and illustrates what the Council of Europe's work means for Ireland at national level.
The launch will include a media opportunity with the Minister and Lord Russell-Johnston.
