Ambassadors of Republic of Lebanon and Republic of Singapore Present Credentials to the President
His Excellency Mr Jihad Mortada, Ambassador of the Republic of Lebanon to Ireland
and
His Excellency Prof. PANG Eng Fong, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Ireland
presented their Letters of Credence as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.
The Minister of State at the Department of the Environment and Local Government,
Mr Danny Wallace, T.D., was present at the ceremony.
The Lebanese Ambassador was unaccompanied.
The Singapore Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Paul Koh, Counsellor at the Singapore Embassy.
Also present were Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary to the President; Mr. Pádraic MacKernan, Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr Joseph Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol, Mr James Hennessy, Assistant Chief of Protocol and Ms Anne O'Shea, Protocol Officer at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the Second Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Deirdre O'Rourke.
A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the Third Infantry Battalion, 1 Southern Brigade, from Kilkenny, under the command of Lieutenant David O'Shaughnessy.
The Army Number One Band was conducted by Commandant Joseph Ryan.
