Israeli Ambassador Presents Credentials to the President
His Excellency Mr. Mark Sofer presented his Letter of Credence as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.
The Minister of State at the Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation, Mr Chris Flood, T.D., was present at the ceremony.
The Ambassador was accompanied by his wife Mrs Sara Sofer, Mr. Daniel Pinhasi, First Secretary, Embassy of Israel, Dublin and Col. Itamar Yaar, Military Attaché, Embassy of Israel, London.
Also present were Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary to the President; Mr. Joseph Hayes, Assistant Secretary, Mr Brian Nason, Chief of Protocol, Mr Joseph Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol, and Mr James Hennessy, Assistant Chief of Protocol of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassador was escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the Second Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Deirdre O'Rourke. A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the First Infantry Battalion, Renmore Barracks, Galway, under the command of Lieutenant Shane Rockett.
The Army Number One Band was conducted by Commandant Joseph Ryan.
