Andrews to open week of intensive talks on Northern Ireland


- Meeting with Secretary of State Mo Mowlam on Monday 21 June

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, David Andrews TD, is to meet with Secretary of State Mo Mowlam in Iveagh House at 09h30 on Monday 21 June. The meeting is part of the process of intensive discussions aimed at ensuring that the deadline of 30 June for the devolution of powers to the new institutions will be met. Minister Andrews and the Secretary of State will focus in particular on how best to resolve the current difficulties over the formation of the Executive and decommissioning.

"The full implementation of the Good Friday Agreement is an absolute priority" said Minister Andrews. "The two Governments are fully determined to achieve devolution before 30 June".

The Minister added that he will travel to Belfast the following day to engage in further talks and to meet with individuals and groups involved in the peace process.

There will be a press briefing after the meeting in Iveagh House.
