Statement by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. David Andrews TD
12/05/1999
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. David Andrews TD, has condemned the shooting of a Catholic workman this morning in Carrickfergus. Mr. Andrews said:
"I am appalled by this latest attack on a member of the nationalist community going about his daily life. It appears to be part of a pattern of intimidation of the nationalist community in the south Antrim area by dissident loyalist groups.
In the face of such outrages, I have said many times that we must redouble our efforts to implement the will of the people in the Good Friday Agreement. I say it again today and I urge those who are engaged in this barbaric violence to desist."
