David Andrews launches Register of Cross-Border Links
Minister for Foreign Affairs, David Andrews TD, launched the "Register of Cross Border Links in Ireland" this afternoon in Leinster House. The Minister discussed the publication with its author, Professor Dominic Murray of Limerick University, and noted that it provides excellent information on people and groups involved in cross border cooperation at all levels.
A considerable number of groups have developed cross border contacts and initiatives since the first edition of the book in 1995. This second edition takes account of areas where "cooperation and implementation for mutual benefit", as identified in the Good Friday and December 18th Agreements, might take place. It profiles more than 500 non-political groups and organisations and other commercial and industrial bodies.
The Register was published by the Centre for Peace and Development Studies.
The research was informed by questionnaires issued to over 1000 organisations and groups.
