Andrews to meet President Khatami on visit to Iran

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. David Andrews T.D., will travel to Tehran this evening to act as Co-Chairman of the Ireland-Iran Joint Economic Commission. While in Iran, the Minister will meet with President Khatami, Foreign Minister Kharrazi and former President Rafsanjani. The Ireland-Iran Joint Economic Commission was established following an agreement reached on 25 November 1990, when the two countries announced their desire to improve mutual relations and to expand their bilateral trade. This is the third session of the Joint Commission and it will deal with all aspects of Ireland’s current economic relations with Iran. Among the items for discussion will be the beef trade, aviation matters and a Science and Technology Agreement. Minister Andrews will be accompanied by a high-level delegation representing a range of State economic agencies and Government Departments.Top
