The documents in this volume cover the period 1919 to 1922 and cover a wide range of issues in the early development of Irish foreign policy, including the establishment of the Diplomatic Service, the campaign for independence and the Anglo-Irish Treaty of December 1921.
Media organisations are invited to send representatives to the launch.
Information for Editors
In February 1997 the Department of Foreign Affairs established a project, in conjunction with the Royal Irish Academy, to publish historical documents pertaining to Irish Foreign Policy. The purpose of the project is to publish documents from the Department's archives and other sources in a readily accessible format, thereby generating an increased interest in Irish foreign policy. The publication is available from good bookshops and the Royal Irish Academy.
The project is managed by an editorial board, made up of leading historians in the field of Irish diplomatic history and representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs, the National Archives and the Royal Irish Academy.
