Minister meets representatives of the East Timor Ireland Solidarity Campaign

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr David Andrews T.D., today met the Chairman of the East Timor Ireland Solidarity Campaign (ETISC), Mr Tom Hyland.
The Minister reiterated his support for the people of East Timor in their struggle to achieve their legitimate rights and called for a just, comprehensive and internationally acceptable solution to the issue.
The Minister repeated the call he had previously made on the Indonesian authorities to release the jailed Timorese resistance leader, Xanana Gusmao. He indicated his intention to visit the imprisoned leader in Jakarta on an appropriate occasion.
