Minister Andrews to meet British Foreign Secretary
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr David Andrews, T.D., will meet with the British Foreign Secretary, Mr. Robin Cook, M.P., on Monday 3 November.
At their meeting, Mr. Andrews and Mr. Cook are expected to discuss a range of EU issues including EMU, the Special Employment Summit to be held in Luxembourg 21 & 22 November, Agenda 2000, the Middle East Peace Process, Disarmament and Human Rights issues as well as the priorities for the forthcoming British Presidency. The meeting is part of a series which the Foreign Secretary is having with his counterparts in EU member States in advance of the British Presidency of the EU, which begins on 1 January 1998. The Minister and the Foreign Secretary will also discuss bilateral matters.
Following their meeting, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Foreign Secretary will give a short Press briefing at 2 pm on Monday, 3 November.
Media wishing to cover the briefing are asked to assemble at Iveagh House at 1.45 pm on Monday, 3 November 1997.
While in Dublin the Foreign Secretary will also meet with the Taoiseach and will speak at a seminar on the British EU Presidency organised by the Institute of European Affairs.
