Minister O'Donnell comments on GOAL funding

Minister of State Liz O'Donnell stated today that the Department of Foreign Affairs has not alleged that GOAL has been involved in any wrongdoing or fraud.

The Department is obliged to ensure proper use of, and accountability for, monies granted to all of the aid organisations it funds, including GOAL. This requirement is not negotiable.

The Minister emphasised that the Department of Foreign Affairs has at all times scrupulously respected the confidentiality of its dealings with GOAL and has only commented when it had to respond to serious allegations made by GOAL.

At their request, the Minister will meet with GOAL tomorrow with a view to making early progress in the matter.Top
