New Ambassadors Present Credentials

Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of the Republic of Cyprus, Brunei Darussalam, and the State of Qatar presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

His Excellency Mr. Sotos A. Liassides, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Ireland was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Stephanie Liassides and Mr. Solon Savva, Second Secretary, Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus.

His Excellency Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Maidin bin Pengiran Haji Hashim, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Ireland was accompanied by his wife Datin Sunah Abdul Hamid and Mr. Mohamad Nasrin bin Haji Mohamad Tanjong, First Secretary, Embassy of Brunei Darussalam.

His Excellency Mr. Khalid Rashid Al-Hamoudi Al-Mansouri, Ambassador of the State of Qatar was accompanied by Mr. Mohamed Al Kaabi, Cultural attaché, Embassy of the State of Qatar.

The following were also present at the ceremony: Ms. Mary Wallace T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture and Food; Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Dan Mulhall, Assistant Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs; Ms. Kathleen White, Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs ; Mr. Thomas O. Bolster, Deputy Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of 2nd Lieutenant David Coughlan.

The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by the B Company 3rd Infantry Battalion, under the command of Lieutenant Sean Byrne.

The Army No. 1 Band was conducted by Lieutenant Brian Prendergast.
