Minister of State Conor Lenihan to address UN Human Rights Council, Geneva

European Development Ministers to be joined by Ministers from developing countries to discuss Economic Partnership Agreements

Minister of State for Irish Aid and Human Rights, Conor Lenihan TD , will this week attend a special meeting of European Development Ministers in Petersberg, Germany and address the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Ministers from African, Caribbean and Pacific countries will join today¹s meeting of EU Development Ministers in the town of Petersberg, outside Bonn Issues to be discussed include Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs), progress toward the UN 0.7% aid target and aid effectiveness.

Minister Lenihan will travel to Geneva on Tuesday to address the UN Human Rights Council. While in Geneva he will meet with Louise Arbour, the UN¹s High Commissioner for Human Rights and Jakob Kellenberger, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
