Minister Treacy announces addition of EU50 site to Department of Foreign Affairs website

The Minister for European Affairs, Mr. Noel Treacy T.D., today announced the addition of an EU50 section to the Department of Foreign Affairs’ website: www.dfa.ie. The new section of the website provides a full listing of events in Ireland for the 50^th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome. It also has a link to the Commission site which details events taking place across Europe. The Minister said:

“I am very happy to announce today a special section of the website dedicated to the 50^th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome. The website gives details of EU50 events and publications in Ireland and provides contact details for any member of the public who wants to get involved.

The Treaty of Rome was an event of fundamental importance in the history of modern Europe. Its anniversary presents us with an ideal opportunity for highlighting the enormous progress we have made thus far. In our case, it is especially important that we avail of the anniversary to ensure that our young people are made aware of the great contribution of the EU to Ireland.

I welcome all visitors to our site and hope that they will engage in the events for EU50.”
