New Ambassadors present Credentials

Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of Sweden and the Republic of Namibia presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

His Excellency Mr. Claes Ljungdahl, Ambassador of Sweden to Ireland was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Gunilla Ljungdahl and Ms. Winni Fejne, Minister, Embassy of Sweden.

His Excellency Mr. George M. Liswaniso, Ambassador of the Republic of Namibia to Ireland was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Agnes Liswaniso and Mr. Titus Shikongo, First Secretary, Embassy of the Republic of Namibia

The following were also present at the ceremony: Mr. Frank Fahey T.D.,
Minister of State at the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform; Mr. Tim O’Connor, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Dermot Gallagher, Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Thomas O. Bolster, Deputy Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Kieran Dillon.

The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by the 6th Infantry Battalion, Custume Barracks, Athlone, under the command of Lieutenant Brendan McGovern.

The Army No. 1 Band was conducted by Lieutenant Brian Prendergast.
