New Ambassadors present Credentials

Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Kingdom of Thailand presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

Her Excellency Mrs. Naghmana A. Hashmi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, was accompanied by her husband Mr. Muhammad Alamgir Hashmi and children Miss Fatima Ali Hashmi, Miss Sarah Hashmi and Mrs. Zehra Akbari, Minister, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

His Excellency Mr. Kitti Wasinondh, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs.Nutchanart Wasinondh and daughter, Miss Nikan Wasinondh and Mr. Narut Soontarodom, First Secretary, Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand.

The following were also present at the ceremony: Mr. Noel Ahern T.D.,

Minister of State at the Department of Finance; Mr. Tim O’Connor, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Ronan Murphy, Assistant Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs;

Ms. Kathleen White, Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of 2nd Lieutenant Laura Keane.

The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by the 2nd Infantry Battalion, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin , under the command of Lieutenant  Carolyn Casey.

The Army No. 1 Band was conducted by Captain Declan Whitston.
