Minister for Foreign Affairs congratulates the new First Minister and deputy First Minister

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Micheál Martin T.D., has congratulated Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness on their appointment this afternoon as First Minister and deputy First Minister in the Northern Ireland Executive.

The Minister said:

“I wish Peter and Martin every success as they take up office today. I know that both are committed to working together effectively in the Executive and the other Institutions and to delivering the benefits of partnership to the entire community.

They have the full support of the Irish Government as they jointly take on the challenges of office.

I look forward to working closely with them in the period ahead and into the future”.
