New Ambassadors present Credentials, Tuesday 17th June, 2008, 11.00 hrs
Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Republic of El Salvador, Republic of Indonesia and Republic of Mauritius presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtárain today.
H.E. Mr. Philippe Djangone-Bi, Ambassador of Republic of Cote d’Ivoire was accompanied by Mr. Noel Kanon, Head of Protocol, Embassy of Republic of Cote d’Ivoire.
H.E. Dr Vladimiro P Villalta, Ambassador of Republic of El Salvador was accompanied by Mrs. Adrienne Ribas de P Villalta.
H.E. Mr. Yuri Octavian Thamrin, Ambassador of Republic of Indonesia was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Risandrani Thamrin and son Adrian Thamrin and by Mr. Yuwono Putranto, Minister Counsellor, Embassy of Republic of Indonesia,
H.E. Mr. Abhimanu Mahendra Kundasamy, Ambassador of Republic of Mauritius was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Mahalutchmee Kundasamy.
The following were also present at the ceremony: Mr. Peter Power T.D, Minister of State for Overseas Development at the Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Tim O’Connor, Secretary General to the President; Ms. Mary Whelan, Assistant Secretary at the Department of Foreign Affairs; Ms. Kathleen White, Chief of Protocol; Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol, Mr. Tom Bolster, Deputy Chief of Protocol and Mr. Patrick Duffy, Assistant Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassadors were escorted to and from the Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin under the command of 2nd Lieutenant Claire Mortimer.
The Guard of Honour at Aras an Uachtaráin was provided by the 12th Infantry Battalion under the command of Lieutenant Rory Arnott.
The Army No. 1 Band was conducted by Lieutenant Fergal Carroll.
