Minister Martin’s Visit to Lurgan and Belfast

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Micheál Martin, T.D., will visit Lurgan and Belfast today for a series of meetings and community engagements.
In Lurgan the Minister will have the opportunity to meet community relations practitioners and young people. Speaking ahead of the visit, the Minister said:
‘I am delighted to have the opportunity to see at first hand some of the excellent work taking place in Lurgan to promote reconciliation and to build sustainable community relations’.
Later in the day, Minister Martin will meet the new leader of the Ulster Unionist Party, Tom Elliott, for discussions on a wide range of areas of mutual interest.
While in Belfast, the Minister and the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Owen Paterson, will launch ‘Policing the Narrow Ground’, a book commissioned by the Department of Foreign Affairs and by the Northern Ireland Office from the Royal Irish Academy to mark last year’s tenth anniversary of the Patten report on policing.
